Husband arrested for cutting off wife’s two fingers for money rituals

 The Ondo State Police command has arrested a 42-year-old man, ldowu Benson, for cutting off his wife’s two fingers for money rituals.

 

The suspect who attacked his wife armed with a cutlass at Kardors College Street, off Akure/ Owo expressway, Oba-ile in Akure, the Ondo state capital, pretended to be a hired assassin. He reportedly invaded his own house and attacked his wife on August 3 this year at about 7:30pm, while putting on a mask.

It was gathered that Idowu chopped off his wife’s two fingers while she was trying to fence off the machete from cutting off her head, and even informed the wife on gaining entry into the house that he was sent to kill her. The suspect who even asked the wife the whereabout of her husband during the attack, was said to have went away with his wife two fingers which was alleged was for money rituals.

 

The wife bled profusely until help came from neighbours who heard her distress call. However after the incident was reported at the police station by the victim, detectives swung into action only for their findings to reveal that it was an inside job.

The suspect’s mobile phone dropped inside the room from his pocket while he attacked his wife. After the attack and having fled with the fingers of his wife, the suspect later returned to the house and was reportedly searching for his telephone.

Vanguard reported that after the suspect was invited, he confessed to the police. The Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, said Idowu blamed the act on the devil, adding that he had yet to tell the police where he kept the two fingers.

The police spokesperson said the suspect attacked his wife with cutlass and attempted to kill her. ” He ( the suspect) has not confessed to police detectives where he kept the fingers or what he had done with them. He kept saying it was not cut off for money rituals.
