Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today raided Pumwani Hospital and made a shocking discovery of 12 dead infants hidden in boxes and nylon bags.
Sonko made the heart-wrenching discovery after making an impromptu visit at the hospital in Nairobi after a tip-off by members of the public.
They alleged that dead infants were being ferried to a store in boxes instead of the morgue. Others alleged that the management had switched off the machines at the maternity wing leading to the death of the babies.

The management found it hard to explain the death toll and how the bodies ended up in boxes in a store rather than in the morgue.
While one of the institution’s officials insisted that only one infant had died, the governor demanded for a thorough search leading to the gruesome discovery.
“Nimekuambia kuna maiti sita, niko na information kwa nini unaniambia ni moja? Don’t play with me nikikuja hapa niko na information…So unasema you lost only one, how many dead babies are this? Kwa nini unacheza na mimi?” argued a furious Sonko.
Consequently, the governor has suspended the top management of Pumwani hospital including the entire hospital board.
“I want to categorically state that human life must be respected no matter the case. Stern action will be taken against anyone found to be sabotaging the good services offered to our mothers and sisters who come to deliver in this facility,” he posted.
He arrived at the hospital in disguise having ditched his official motorcade for a boda boda.
